The Family of Little Feet

This chapter is significant because it shows how the girls are growing up. When she says that men looked at them like they were Christmas, it meant that they were becoming very pretty especially with their new shoes on. The girls felt like Cinderella when they got the shoes because they fit well and they also felt special because they never received gifts for charity before. Later on Mr. Benny told them not to wear the shoes because they were too young to wear seductive shoes. Soon a bum offers Rachel money to kiss him. The kids get scared and run away and now they know that being beautiful is tiring and difficult. I think these shoes are important because the chapter that results from them shows how beautiful girls need to be careful or lustful men will try to take advantage of them.
